Why Your Car Key Suddenly Stopped Starting the Vehicle

Few things are more frustrating than a key that still looks normal but suddenly stops starting the vehicle. The key still fits, the buttons may still look fine, and yet the car no longer responds the way it used to. When that happens, the cause is not always obvious from the outside.

Not every key problem is visible

Some problems are easy to spot, such as a cracked casing or a damaged blade. Others happen inside the key or in the coded side of the system. The chip may no longer be communicating properly, the remote may have lost synchronisation, or the vehicle may not be reading the key data consistently.

Common reasons this happens
